Three of My Favorite Kitchen Tools Just in Time for Fall Dishes

Fall inspires some of my favorite dishes in the kitchen, from butternut squash soup to flaky apple pastries. But let me be clear - inspiration alone does not make for a delicious dish! It takes some time-tested, trusty tools to bring everything I whip up to life. This love for finding, testing, and falling in love with everything kitchen and home is part of what brought Maxwell’s Mercantile into existence, but that story is for another time.

For now, I’d like to leave you with three of my favorite kitchen tools and the brand behind their magic.

Emile Henry Casserole Dish

If you've been following Maxwell’s Mercantile’s journey on social media for a while, you know we are big fans of Emile Henry's beautiful ceramic creations! These artisan pots, oil cruets, and dishes are made in the region of southern Burgundy in France with a legacy of over 150 years of craftsmanship. Our collection at the shop keeps growing because their quality is second to none. I also love that their colorful finishes make for statement pieces on the stove and table top!

My most used item of theirs is probably their casserole dish, which I use for everything from one pan dinners of roasted veggies and meat to cheesy lasagna.

Dorset Maple Reserve Syrup

We love carrying Dorset Maple Reserve Syrup which is handcrafted in in the small town of Dorset, Vermont from a forest of 40,000 sugar maples! The beautiful process that goes into creating their syrup seems to be the secret behind their serious quality. The rich, exquisite flavor is credited to the land's limestone based soils that deliver high calcium content water to the undisturbed maple forest.

I personally love knowing that it’s not only delicious but also a healthy alternative to regular sugar! Maple syrup contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, which makes it tasty to drizzle over pancakes or as a sweetener in your baked goods.

My favorite use for maple syrup is adding a dash of it to my coffee with or without cream, for touch of sweetness and extra flavor.

J.K. Adams Co Cutting Board

J.K. Adams Co. is a second-generation family-owned business that also happens to be located in Dorset, Vermont! Since 1944, their cutting boards and rolling pins have been beloved in homes across the U.S. Not only are their kitchen goods beautiful and high-quality, I also love that they are committed to employing and empowering the local community and partnering with sustainable suppliers.

My most used and loved J.K. Adams Co tool has to be my cutting board. I love chopping and prepping on them, or using them for serving platters.

I hope sharing a bit about my favorite friends in the kitchen and the brands that make them inspires you to spend more time cooking and creating for your friends, family, and your own enjoyment. You can find all of these tools I’ve shared in my cozy Louisburg, KS shop, open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
